(KNOX) – The North Dakota Industrial Commission approved a pair of loans Tuesday for the City of Grand Forks to help facilitate the 42nd Street underpass project.
The city requested funding under the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund Program and Clean Water State Revolving Fund to the tune of nearly $8.8 million dollars. The existing raw water and potable water lines need to be moved as part of the construction. In addition a new storm sewer system…lift station…and storm pond need to be built.
The entire cost of the underpass exceeds $80 million dollars. The term of the two loans is 20 years – – payable with city sales tax dollars.
The Industrial Commission is comprised of Governor Kelly Armstrong…Attorney General Drew Wrigley…and Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring. Both loans were approved by unanimous votes.
