(KNOX) – The Grand Forks Air Force Base would house a $250 million dollar satellite operations center as part of President Trump’s Fiscal Year 2027 budget request. The announcement was made by North Dakota’s two U.S. Senators.
The 180,000 square foot Space Force complex would require an additional 100 personnel across two or three manned squadrons. The proposal builds upon the low-Earth orbit satellite mission at the GFAFB.
Senator John Hoeven says the next step is to fund the project through the annual appropriations process and move towards design and construction.
Senator Kevin Cramer says the project puts Grand Forks at the center of what’s next in space operations.
