(KNOX) – A Wahpeton man, Al Odden, was found dead in a submerged car. Valley City Police Department said that they located a vehicle in the river near Riverview Drive. Elevated spring water levels and strong currents prevented a safe recovery at that time.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers temporarily reduced water flow from Baldhill Dam to lower river levels for the recovery operation.
The vehicle was removed from the river Saturday morning with assistance from Valley City Fire and Rescue, Gille Auto, the Barnes County Sheriff’s Office, Barnes County Ambulance and the highway patrol.
The Wahpeton Police Department confirmed the vehicle belonged to Odden. He was found dead at the scene.
