(UND Sports Information) – LAS VEGAS – Junior defenseman Abram Wiebe has signed a two-year, entry-level contract with the Calgary Flames, the organization announced on Friday afternoon.
Wiebe is set to join the Flames immediately and is expected to make his NHL debut on Saturday night in Seattle.
Wiebe played three seasons with the Fighting Hawks and appeared in 118 games – never missing a game over his entire career. He finished with 10 goals and 53 assists for 63 points in the green and white.
This past season, Wiebe exploded for a career-high 29 points to pace all UND blueliners while also notching a plus-13 rating. The 29 points are tied for the second most by a NoDak defenseman in the last eight years and earned him All-NCHC Second Team honors this season.
