(UND Sports Information) – SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – One home match against a conference opponent was all Ethel Li and Jule Schulte needed to sweep the women’s tennis weekly conference accolades, with Li earning Singles Peak Performer of the Week before teaming up with Schulte to take Doubles Peak Team of the Week, league officials announced on Tuesday.
North Dakota hosted Kansas City on Friday, March 20 for its second conference match of the season and collected a strong team win on home turf. First, the duo of Li and Schulte teamed up to cruise to a dominating 6-1 victory from the No. 1 court, helping clinch the doubles point for the Fighting Hawks and improving to 12-3 overall from the top position.
When singles play began, Li rallied back from early deficits to earn a 6-4, 6-3 win over the Roos in straight sets. Her victory served as the clinching point for North Dakota at 4-0 before the Fighting Hawks went on to win 5-2.
The accolade marks Li’s third career doubles team honor and Schulte’s fifth doubles recognition. It is also the third singles honor for Li in her career.
