(KNOX) – Monday afternoon the Grand Forks Fire Department responded South 20th Street for a structure fire.
Fire crews arrived on scene to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the residence. The fire was confined to the kitchen.
There was significant heat and smoke damage to the structure and contents. Fire crews ventilated smoke from the building, overhauled the kitchen, and the property was released back to a property management company.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. There were no injuries to the occupants or fire service personnel. The occupants have been displaced and are being assisted by Red Cross.
The Fire Department was assisted by Altru Ambulance, Red Cross, Xcel Energy, and the Grand Forks Police Department.
