(KNOX) – Early Thursday morning the Grand Forks Police Department was dispatched to North 6th Street for a vehicle theft.

The suspect Christopher Davis, 28,  entered a vehicle without permission that was started. Davis then fled in the vehicle without the consent of the registered owner along with another man, Tristan Amyotte, 20.

Officers on scene spotted the vehicle while making initial contact with the reporting party and a pursuit was initiated. The pursuit left city limits and continued along North Washington Street and 23rd Avenue Northeast when Davis lost control of the vehicle due to weather conditions and the vehicle was disabled in the ditch.

Davis and Amyotte fled the vehicle on foot but were quickly taken into custody without incident. The reporting party’s vehicle was then returned to him.

Davis is being charged with driving under suspension, vehicle theft, fleeing in a vehicle, and possession of stolen property. Amyotte is facing charges of possession of stolen property and possession of a concealed weapon. Both individuals were taken to the Grand Forks County Correctional Center for processing.
