(North Dakota Monitor) – Gov. Kelly Armstrong appointed Fargo criminal defense attorney Mark Friese to the North Dakota Supreme Court.

Friese will begin his term on March 9 and succeed retiring Supreme Court Justice Daniel Crothers.

“Mark is a brilliant, fair-minded and well-respected lawyer who has excelled as one of our state’s premier trial attorneys for more than two decades,” Armstrong said in a statement.

Friese has practiced criminal defense law and civil litigation for 25 years. He is a shareholder with the Vogel Law Firm in Fargo and clerked for North Dakota Supreme Court Justice Dale Sandstrom for one year.
