(KNOX) – A Grand Forks man who his attorneys said committed no crime and is in the United States legally has filed a federal lawsuit claiming he’s being unlawfully detained after an ICE arrest in Grand Forks.
Abdirahman Yusuf, 65, is a Somalian who come to the United States as a refugee in 1998.
According to his attorneys he suffers from a traumatic brain injury from a bomb blast that killed several of his family members during the war in his home country.
His brain was further damaged during a violent car-jacking after he arrived in the U.S. when he was bludgeoned in the head with an iron pole and was comatose for 30 days.
