(KNOX) – Altru Health System appointed Hector Campbell, MD to join the non-profit’s board of directors in October 2025.

“It has been a privilege to care for patients in this community, and I look forward to serving in a new way as part of Altru’s Board of Directors,” Dr. Campbell said. “I hope to represent the voices of both our patients and providers, bringing a patient-first perspective that helps strengthen the future of health care in our region.”

Dr. Campbell received his medical degree from The University of the West Indies, followed by general

surgery training and a plastic surgery fellowship at Wayne State University and the Detroit Medical

Center. Additionally, he completed a hand surgery fellowship at the University of Toronto. Dr. Campbell was the first physician in North Dakota to perform Targeted Muscle Reinnervation, or TMR surgery, to help amputees suffering from phantom and residual limb pain.

Altru’s Board of Directors is a volunteer board comprised of community members, two Altru physicians and Altru’s president and CEO. Currently, 10 individuals serve on the board.
