(KNOX) – The Grand Forks County Commission has agreed to assume supervision of the local operations for Women, Infants and Children.
WIC as it is known, is a federal assistance program that provides resources such as healthy foods and nutrition education that is centered toward pregnant, recently pregnant and breastfeeding women, as well as infants and those under the age of five.
It was administered by Red River Valley Community Action, a Grand Forks nonprofit that stopped operations after financial difficulties.
