(KNOX) -The City of East Grand Forks has a preliminary budget tax levy of 12 percent for 2026.

City Council Member Dale Helms would like to lower it.

“Four or five, somewhere down there. So hopefully we’ll be able to get down to that point,” said Helms.

A tax levy of 12 percent in East Grand Forks would bring in over $7,994,000.00 dollars.

East Grand Forks City Council will work with the city administrator to try and lower the tax levy for the final budget.
