(KNOX) – According to the highway patrol on Tuesday afternoon a 2017 Volvo tractor trailer driven by a 37 year-old man from Lackawanna, NY was headed east on U.S. Highway 2. A 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by an 83 year-old man from Lakota was traveling south on North Dakota Highway 1.
The Jeep crossed the eastbound lanes of U.S. Highway 2 and was struck by the tractor trailer. Both vehicles ended up in a ditch.
The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured. The driver of the Jeep was seriously injured and taken to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.
The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
