(KNOX) – An East Grand Forks man is slated to stand trial in March for father’s 2020 death.

Vincent Villarrea, 33, has been accused of killing his 55-year-old father Jeffrey Shulzitski inside a Grand Forks hotel room on December 5th 2020.

Legal records say that he was on supervised release at the time for a criminal sexual conduct conviction in Minnesota. He was later charged and convicted for two assaults that happened while he was in custody. He was moved to Grand Forks County detention in February of this year and pleaded not guilty to murder in March.

The records indicate that he is a person of interest in his father’s murder because security video shows him leaving the hotel where Shulzitski was found dead. His court trial could start March 10th.
