(KNOX) – The“Taste of Belgium” community celebration held August 25 at Grand Forks Town Square, where more than 1,500 attendees welcomed Belgium-based potato processor Agristo. A potato producer meeting that took place the following day in Hoople.
The community celebration event featured free fries, local food vendors, live entertainment, family activities, and remarks from Agristo leadership as well as Grand Forks Mayor Brandon Bochenski, Lt. Governor Michelle Strinden, North Dakota Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring and Grand Forks Region Economic Development Corporation President and CEO Keith Lund.
Earlier in the day, Agristo signed a land development agreement advancing its plans to invest $450 million in a new potato processing facility in Grand Forks – the company’s first U.S. location. Construction is expected to begin this fall, with operations scheduled to begin in early 2028.
