(KNOX) – Late last week Grand Forks police were dispatched to the intersection of South Columbia Road and 24th Avenue South for a two vehicle accident with injuries. Multiple 911 calls were received indicating that the accident involved a motorcycle and a pickup truck. Initial investigation of the crash determined that a 2023 Kawasaki ZX636 motorcycle, driven by a 22 year old male, was northbound on South Columbia Road as a 2002 Toyota Tacoma, driven by a 19 year old male, was southbound.

As the vehicles approached 24th Avenue South the driver of the Tacoma attempted to make a left hand turn to go eastbound. The motorcycle struck the Tacoma in the front of the vehicle, causing disabling damage to both vehicles. Both vehicles were later towed from the scene.

The driver of the motorcycle sustained serious, incapacitating injuries and was transported to Altru for medical treatment. No injuries were reported to the driver or passenger in the truck. The crash remains under investigation by the GFPD Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Team and no citations have been issued at this time.

Traffic was impacted for approximately 90 minutes while the crash was under investigation.
