(KNOX) – The City of Grand Forks has named Grand Forks Deputy Fire Chief, Charles Marcott as new Chief of the Grand Forks Fire Department.  Mr. Marcott’s hiring is pending City Council approval on Tuesday, September 2nd.

“Public safety is of utmost importance in Grand Forks, as such we had a great group of candidates from this nationwide search.” Grand Forks Mayor Brandon Bochenski said.

“When I started as a Firefighter 26 years ago, I never thought I would ever be the Chief of a department like Grand Forks,” Mr. Marcott said. “It is an honor to be the next Chief of the Grand Forks Fire Department, and I can’t wait to work with the great men and women of our department. I am equally proud to continue supporting the incredible professionals of our Public Safety Answering Point, who serve as the critical first link in every emergency response. Together with the dedicated team across the entire City of Grand Forks organization, I look forward to strengthening our partnerships, building on our shared successes, and ensuring we provide the highest level of service to the community we serve.”

Mr. Marcott currently oversees the Public Safety Answering Point as a Deputy Fire Chief for the City of Grand Forks. Mr. Marcott holds a Bachelor’s degree in Technical Operations Management from Minnesota State University Moorhead.

Charles Marcott is expected to take over as the Chief of the Grand Forks Fire Department on Wednesday, September 3rd.
