(KNOX) – Former University of North Dakota basketball player Deng Mayar died over the weekend from drowning according to the school.
Mayar was back in his home state of Utah with a friend near the Blackridge Reservoir when Mayar did not return to shore.
Reports said that Mayar struggled, went underwater and did not emerge again.
He was set to play for the University of Nebraska-Omaha this season as a graduate senior.
