(KNOX) – Several state laws that were passed as part of North Dakota’s 69th Legislative Assembly are going into effect on August 1st.
One of these changes will affect the classroom, where cell phones will now be banned in schools. HB 1160 requires all personal electronic communication devices to be stowed and inaccessible to students from the start of the school day until dismissal at the end of the day.
The proposal still allows for the use of tablets and other school-issued electronic devices for learning and has exceptions for students who need those devices for medical reasons or as part of an individual education plan.
Also on August 1st the speed limit on interstate highways in most areas in North Dakota goes from 75 to 80 miles per hour.
