(KNOX) – Leading voices from across North Dakota’s energy landscape gathered at the Advanced Technology Center at the National Energy Center of Excellence on the Bismarck State College campus for a high-level round table discussion focused on the future of energy in the state and the current energy status.

The event was co-hosted by the North Dakota Association of Rural Electric Cooperatives and brought together a broad coalition of expert stakeholders within the energy ecosystem, including representatives from utility companies, geothermal system developers, research and educational institutions, and the National Energy Center of Excellence.

Senior staff from the offices of United States Senator John Hoeven and United States Senator Kevin Cramer also participated in the discussion, due to the importance of federal engagement in supporting North Dakota’s developing energy economy.  Participants focused on the evolving role of the federal government in shaping energy policy and infrastructure investment, and how legislation currently moving though the U.S. Senate may change that outlook.

In-depth discussions centered on emerging technologies such as geothermal and nuclear energy systems, transmission and distribution development, as well as the critical need for expanding workforce training and development programs.
