(KNOX) – Thompson and Park River were the top two seeds to the Class B high school baseball tournament this year, and they played a tight Legion matchup Thursday night.
Thompson would score three in the first, aided by a passed ball allowing a run, and free outs on a bunt rotation miscue and another miscue at the plate by Park River in a 3-1 win in Thompson.
Johnny Muhs bunt in the first failed to record an out as the rotation could not field the ball to the left of the mound. Dex Advem would later score on the passed ball, and Muhs would score when a grounder to third led to a throw to catcher Trace Anderson, who mistakenly thought there was a force play. The run scored when Muhs was not tagged out.
Brayden Wolfgram picked up the win, striking out six and allowing two hits over seven innings. Muhs finished 2-3 with a double and a run.
