(KNOX) – Thompson scored six in the first and six in the fourth to finish off MPCG 13-1 (5) in the Post 181 District 6 opener.
Kaden Loiland roped a double to the right-field corner to break open the scoring in the first, the seventh consecutive Thompson hitter to reach safely in the inning. Thompson led 6-0 after one.
Will Welke added an RBI single in the second, and Thompson loaded the bases with no one out, but MPCG hurler Connor Docktor recorded back-to-back strikeouts and got out of the jam with no further damage.
But Thompson would add plenty of damage in the fourth, plating six more, with Drew Odenbach adding his third hit of the game. Odenbach finished 3-3, driving in in three runs and scoring twice.
Thompson plays at Langdon Wednesday and hosts Park River Thursday, with the Thursday matchup being carried on KNOX Live Sports.
