(KNOX) – Thursday evening a Grand Forks Police Department officer saw a vehicle driving westbound on Demers Avenue in violation of traffic laws.
Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, a 2009 Dodge Ram, however it continued driving.
The vehicle then stopped at the intersection of Demers Avenue and South Washington Street, before continuing westbound while failing to pull over for the emergency lights and sirens of police vehicles.
As the vehicle approached the intersection of Demers Avenue and South 20th Street officers were able to use their patrol vehicles to block it in. A high-risk traffic stop was conducted and the driver was taken into custody without incident.
The driver of the vehicle, Kelly Cleven, 58, of Warroad, MN. Cleven was arrested and charged with fleeing in a vehicle and preventing arrest.
No injuries were reported during the incident.
Traffic was diverted along Demers Avenue for approximately 10 minutes during this incident.
