(KNOX) – Initial approval was given to a project that is scheduled to be done near Highway 81 in Grand Forks for a water main.
This phase covers most of the properties adjacent to the east side of Highway 81 from 27th Avenue North up to 33rd Avenue North.
It also includes several properties along the north end of Mill Road. This project will provide water service and fire protection to the properties adjacent to the project.
The cost came in above what the project was thought to have cos due to changes.
“With some of the changes that we’ve made as we designed this project along the way. We’re looking at about $1.68 million at this point,” said Grand Forks Assistant City Engineer Christian Danielson.
Danielson said that before the changes the project would have cost $1.1 million.
This project will be funded utilizing special assessments as well as an anticipated North Dakota State Water Commission (NDSWC) cost share.
The previous phase of water main in this area received approximately 60% cost sharing from NDSWC. A similar cost share is anticipated for both of the remaining phases.
