(KNOX) – An 83 year-old woman driver of a wrong way vehicle on Interstate 29 in Grand Forks County Monday traveling southbound in the northbound lanes is dead.
The driver of the vehicle collided head-on in the northbound lanes.
The driver of the northbound vehicle, a 42 year-old man from Grand Forks, was transported by ambulance to a Grand Forks hospital with serious injuries.
The northbound lanes of I-29 about 2 and half miles north of the Thompson exit were closed for approximately 2 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
The Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Office, Thompson Police, Thompson Fire & Rescue assisted the highway patrol.
The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
