(KNOX) – Not much advancement has been made on providing property tax relief in North Dakota by the State Legislature.

The conference committee on House Bill 1176 has been in a stalemate since it first met.

While the lawmakers agree on a number of issues a “skin in the game” provision continues to be a major stumbling block.

Senators argue that everyone should pay at least a quarter of their property taxes. Which could keep property owners interested in community issues.

It is not certain what chamber of the North Dakota Legislature will make the first move in breaking the impasse.
