(KNOX) -A Grand Forks County Commissioner will step down as after an audit of the North Dakota Public Employees Retirement System (NDPERS) by the IRS.

Bob Rost will resign his elected position later this month.

After the audit NDPERS said that former public employees cannot serve on elected boards and still collect pensions.

NDPERS had been allowing retirees to collect pension in the same county where they’re serving as an elected official. That all changed after the audit by the IRS.
Rost said that others could be impacted.
