(KNOX) – Cirrus Aircraft would like to expand it operation in Grand Forks by adding a 30,000 square foot addition.

Grand Forks City Council Member Rebecca Osowski said that the Chinese government owns Cirrus Aircraft and that they get one percent of Cirrus’ revenue.

“I think we should be divesting our self with China,” Osowski said.

Osowski said that in 2024 Cirrus Aircraft made 1.2 billion dollars, the government of China got $12,000,000 of that revenue.

Cirrus Aircraft was recently approved by the Grand Forks Committee of the Whole for a tax incentive that also included a payment in lieu of taxes.

A public hearing on the matter will be held on Monday June 2nd at Grand Forks City Council’s regular meeting at city hall that starts at 5:30 in the afternoon.

The public hearing will be held before Grand Forks City Council votes to approve or disapprove granting Cirrus Aircraft the tax incentive.
