(KNOX) – There will not be an appeal of the sentence handed to former state senator Ray Holmberg of Grand Forks.
The lawyer who represented Holmberg on charges that he traveled to Europe to have sex with underage boys says Holmberg did not ask him to appeal the 10-year prison sentence.
Holmberg was sentenced in federal court in Fargo on March 26th.
The prosecutor had recommended that the 81-year-old be sentenced to between 37 and 46 months.
Holmberg denied actually having sex with anyone under 18.
Holmberg is in the Sherburne county jail in Elk River, Minnesota as he awaits his transfer to prison.
The federal bureau of prisons will determine where he will serve the sentence.
