(KNOX) – The State Revolving Fund (SRF) programs, jointly administered by the North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality and the North Dakota Public Finance Authority, awarded six loans for water, sanitary and storm sewer projects in March.

Hazen was awarded a $2.51 million loan from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) to reline the sanitary sewer mains and spot repair those that cannot be relined as well as rehabilitate the manholes.

Mandan received a $12.48 CWSRF loan and a $6.91 million Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) loan to replace the water main, sanitary sewer mains and storm water infrastructure along Memorial Highway. The water main will be relocated to provide easier access and will be made larger to improve service to the southwest portion of Mandan.

Colfax was granted a $245,000 DWSRF loan to construct a new water main loop from the reservoir to the north side of the city along Richland County Road 1. This will improve water pressure and make the system more reliable.

Jamestown was awarded an $1.62 million loan from the DWSRF to replace 14 blocks of cast iron water mains including valves and hydrants with PVC pipe helping the city save on maintenance costs and improve water service.

Zeeland was granted a $60,000 DWSRF loan to install a mixer in the water tower to prevent freezing and new pumps and controls in the pump house to monitor the water levels in the city’s system to ensure a safe, reliable water source.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency provides part of the SRF programs’ funding, which offers below-market interest rate loans to political subdivisions for financing projects authorized under the Clean Water Act and Safe Drinking Water Act. SRF programs operate nationwide to provide funding to maintain and improve the infrastructure that protects our vital water resources.

The Public Finance Authority is overseen by the North Dakota Industrial Commission, consisting of Governor Kelly Armstrong as chairman, Attorney General Drew H. Wrigley, and Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring. Please contact the Department of Environmental Quality at ndsrf@nd.gov regarding specific detail on any of the projects mentioned above.
