(KNOX) – The Grand Forks Airport Authority continues to push the need for a fourth Delta Airlines flight. Vice Chairman Steve Kuhlman says he’s heard complaints that the 5 a.m. flight out of GFK is completely booked and he fears passengers are being lost to Fargo.
North Dakota Senate Bill 2006, which contains funds to reconstruct the primary runway at Grand Forks International Airport, will have a hearing before the House Appropriations Committee next Thursday. The authority hopes to put the primary runway up for bids in March.
The North Dakota Aeronautics Bill passed the Senate 46-0 before crossover. The bill asks for a total of $120 million for GFK.
The Grand Forks Airport Authority plans to meet with the City of Grand Forks, Grand Forks County, the North Dakota Department of Transportation, and consultants in March to review roadway improvements suggested for the intersection of Airport Road and North Dakota Highway 2.
The University of North Dakota is building a three-floor, $36 million Aerospace Dispatch Center near the Grand Forks International Airport. The site was originally a hangar in 1974.
Construction is expected to take a year-and-a-half, and parking is being set aside with shuttle service for aviation students and faculty.
2,100 UND Aviation students helped make Grand Forks International Airport the ninth busiest in the nation during the month of October 2024.
