Grand Forks Fire Marshal Will Get New Offices

(KNOX) – The Grand Forks Fire Marshal will get a new office.

The Grand Forks Fire Department’s administrative and fire prevention offices are at Fire Station 1 at 1124 DeMers Avenue.

There is very limited office space for personnel working at this location and congestion is occurring. For example, three fire marshals as well as individuals on modified duty share a single office that is designed for one person.

Grand Forks Fire Chief Gary Lorenz said that the lots are in perfect locations.

“Even as importantly, the strategic location of this property. There are two lots that are ultimately are for sale,” said Lorenz.

The lots are on the corner of Washington Street and DeMers Avenue near Fire Station 1.

The City of Grand Forks will pay $850,000 for the lots.

A previous alternative that was suggested but did not move forward was relocating the fire marshals along with the health department to the new Franklin on 4th building.
