(KNOX) -Visit Greater Grand Forks” says that events where people do not stay overnight in a Grand Forks motel room still brings money to the community.

Executive Director of “Visit Greater Grand Forks,” Julie Rygg, says that when people attend an event, they will most likely spend money at a business.

“They are producing a large economic impact because even the ones who don’t produce the overnights do have regional visitors,” Rygg says.

“Visit Greater Grand Forks” offers support and promotional services for local events. When something is going on in Grand Forks people will open up their wallets.

“Just as a local person, if you go out to a concert and don’t spend your money on a hotel, you’re probably going to a restaurant. You might go to bar afterwards. You might go do something else,” Rygg says.

“Visit Greater Grand Forks” also supports conventions and tournaments with enticement funds awarded through a bidding process.
