(KNOX) – Altru is offering Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBO) at Altru Clinic, located at 1300 South Columbia Road in Grand Forks.
“We are very excited to offer medical grade hyperbaric oxygen treatments locally here in Grand Forks ,” said Seth Dorman, CWS,NP-C, a wound care specialist at Altru. “We know these treatments are going to allow many patients to restore health and promote healing and we are excited that they will now be able to do this locally.”
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is a treatment in which the patient breathes 100% pure oxygen while inside a pressurized chamber. The high-pressure dose of oxygen helps a patient’s blood carry more oxygen to organs and tissues to help promote healing. This treatment also activates white blood cells to fight infection.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy may be used to treat conditions including:
• Diabetic foot ulcers
• Chronic Bone infection
• Injury to soft tissue or bone as a side effect from radiation therapy
• Compromised skin grafts or flaps
• Acute arterial injuries including frostbite
• Crush injuries including compartment syndrome.
Talk to your provider to see if you may be a candidate for hyperbaric oxygen therapy. To learn more, visit Altru.org/hbo.
