(KNOX) – A look at pedestrian safety and mobility in the Grand Valley area was done by the City of Grand Forks.
Assistant city Engineer Dave Kuharenko says the study was done because that area of Grand Forks is seeing growth.
“Pretty much looking at trying to get a tool box put together of various safety improvements that we can make as this area continues to develop,” says Kuharenko.
The study of the area started in June of last year with the goal of planning and design of pedestrian infrastructure and policies to enhance safety.
With growth in that area of Grand Forks, there is the possibility that schools will need to be built.
“Especially with the residential development in the Grand Valley area and the potential of new schools being built in the area,” Kuharenko says.
