(KNOX) – The new Altru Hospital is three weeks old.
Chief Executive Todd Forkel says the staff took great care in moving 185 patients on opening day, January 19.
“The patient move went way better than we imagined,” Forkel told the Base Retention and Investment Committee.
Within the first week, Altru delivered its first baby and conducted its first surgery.
There have been dilemmas with signage, and motorists “driving on the sidewalk.” Forkel says access to parking from Columbia Road South won’t be available until the old hospital comes down.
