(KNOX) – Grand Forks Mayor Brandon Bochenski, County Commissioner Mark Rustad, and Jamie Azure, Chairman of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa, testified in favor of Senate Bill 2376 before the North Dakota Senate Judiciary Committee.
The bill clears the way for the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa to build a casino-and-resort near Grand Forks.
The bill, introduced by State Senator Scott Meyer, is opposed by the Charitable Gaming Association of North Dakota.
Speaking on “The Ryan Cunningham Show” Wednesday, Grand Forks City Council President says it’s a proposal worth listening to especially when the Tribe is talking of “spending $280-to-$300 million in our community and employing upward of 700 people.

The Senate Hearing closed without any action taken.
