(KNOX) – The City of Grand Forks has its eye on the state capitol.
John Bernstrom of the City of Grand Forks says they are closely following House Bill 1176, the legislation that provides property tax reform and relief.
“That is House Bill 1176. That provides the primary resident’s tax credit, the cap on property tax budgets,” Bernstrom says.
He says there is another bill that they are following closely which deals with the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) placing agents in Grand Forks.
“For House Bill 1102. That would have the BCI place two agents here in Grand Forks focusing on cybercrimes. They have done this throughout the state, and the northeast region of the state is the last portion of the state they’ve funded,” Bernstrom says.
Bernstrom says he and other city employees will be busy for the foreseeable future watching state bills
.
“They’re expecting over a 1,000 to be filed this year. So a lot of reading here in the next couple of weeks. The deadline for filing is a couple of weeks away,” Bernstrom says.
