(KNOX) – This Sunday, Altru moves into its new hospital.
The Emergency Room opens first at 6 a.m. At the same time, the old emergency room will close.
Altru will begin moving patients into the new hospital at 8 a.m. That process may take several hours.
Once the transfer of patients is complete, the current hospital will close, and all services will be relocated to the new hospital or other facilities.
For 15-to-18 months, Altru will have a temporary parking plan in place while the old hospital is decommissioned and demolished. Free valet and shuttle services will be encouraged for all patients and visitors, who will be welcome January 20.
