(KNOX) – Altru and the City of Grand Forks cut the ribbon on a new seven-floor hospital.
Hundreds if not thousands of people from the region toured patient rooms, surgical areas and laboratories.

“This has been a long time coming,” Grand Forks Mayor Brandon Bochenski told KNOX News.  “It’s a symbol to the future of Grand Forks, a gem for the whole region.”

About 50 percent of the Altru staff comes from outside Grand Forks.

The new Altru Hospital has 3,400 employees. It will begin seeing patients on January 19.
