(KNOX) -Grand Forks Public Health Women’s Way, MyAlly Health and Spectra Health are hosting a Pap-A-Thon during January, Cervical Cancer Awareness Month.
Those who are due for a cervical cancer screening (Pap and/or HPV test) or HPV vaccine are encouraged to schedule an appointment with MyAlly Health, Spectra Health or their healthcare provider.
Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable types of cancers, thanks to tools such as Pap tests, HPV tests and the HPV vaccine.
“I always took care of myself. I exercised, I ate right, I thought I was healthy, until I was diagnosed with stage three cervical cancer while I was pregnant 27 years ago.” Carrie, a Women’s Way program participant, shares of her continued fight with cervical cancer, “I encourage everyone to get screened as early as possible and stay on top of it, because your life is at stake. Cervical cancer didn’t just change my life, it changed the lives of my entire family. If you don’t take care of yourself, you can’t be there for those you love – a simple pap test can make all the difference.
It can be a daunting process, but if you don’t know where to start, start with Women’s Way, because I know how much they care.”
Eligible women can receive free breast and cervical cancer screenings through Women’s Way. To find out if you are eligible and schedule an appointment, call Tiffany at 701-787-8118.
