On to Saint Paul for Gander

(KNOX) – Steve Gander jokes that he is out of government work- for a week.
He’ll be sworn into the Minnesota House of Representatives on Tuesday.
Tuesday night, the East Grand Forks City Council recognized Gander for eight years as mayor.

Gander has been assigned to the Ag Finance and Human Services Finance committees.

East Grand Forks Mayor Mark Olstad ended 11 years as an alderman Tuesday to be sworn in as Mayor.
Also being sworn into the Council were Tami Schumacher and Don Casmey, who were elected to their respective wards in November. Tim Riopelle and Brian Larson were re-elected in November.
Larson was unanimously elected President of the Council.
Riopelle was elected vice-president.
The new council moved to hire Emily Barth as a police officer.

East Grand Forks City Council meetings are being held in the Lynn Stauss Council Chamber, following a dedication Tuesday night to the Stauss family.

Stauss passed away in September 2022 at the age of 77.
East Grand Forks City Hall was built with federal flood recovery funds.
