(KNOX) – Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has ordered a special election next month that will decide control of the Minnesota Senate.
That vote will take place January 28.
The announcement comes three days after the death of the former Senate Majority Leader Kari Dziedzic from District 60.
The vacancy put the Minnesota Senate in a 33-33 tie.
Another special election for the Roseville area House seat is also set for January 28.
Control of that chamber will sit at 67-66 early in the legislative session, with Republicans holding a one-vote advantage.
