(Kyra Miles – MPRnews) – Did you buy a lottery ticket from the Coborn’s grocery store in Delano late last year? You might have won a million dollars — and time is running out to claim that prize.
The Minnesota Lottery is still looking for a lucky winner of its Minnesota Millionaire Raffle drawing from New Year’s Day 2024. As with other lottery games, there’s a one-year deadline to claim the prize. One of the two million-dollar raffle winners claimed their prize, but the other has not.
If the money isn’t claimed by the close of business on Dec. 31, it’ll be forfeited into the state general fund to help pay for other state programs and services.
According to Minnesota Lottery officials, it’s rare for a prize this large to go unclaimed — but it’s not unheard of. Sometimes players lose their ticket or are unaware they won. Officials said the lottery has a “robust campaign to report unclaimed prizes” at retail locations and on the lottery website.
The Minnesota Lottery reported about $17.8 million in prizes went unclaimed in 2023, but most of those were lower-tier amounts. Any attempt to claim prizes past their expiration date will be rejected by the system.
You can check your raffle tickets on the Minnesota Lottery website.
