(KNOX) – The Grand Forks Committee of the Whole was informed on the Red River Valley Water Supply Project Agreements.
Grand Forks City Administrator Todd Feland gave the committee the update on the project.
“With the Red River Valley Water Supply Project itself, there is a funding request to the State of North Dakota for the 2025 to 2027 biennium for $221,000,000,” Feland told the committee.
Feland also told the committee of a rule for municipalities wanting to join in the proposed water plan.
“The assurance policy is really meant for those that aren’t sure if they’re going to be able to use the project, but we want to bring them into the project sooner rather than later,” Feland says.
Feland told the committee which municipalities have already joined the program.
“Carrington, Cooperstown, Hillsboro, Mayville, Valley City along Grand Forks and Fargo are now signed up,” says Feland.
The goal of the project would be to deliver water from the Missouri River to eastern and central North Dakota.
