(North Dakota Monitor staff) – A free virtual event on Saturday aims to educate North Dakotans on how to advocate for issues they care about during the upcoming legislative session.
The one-hour Amplify North Dakota virtual event, hosted by the Prairie Action North Dakota Institute, will focus on legislative process basics and offer political strategies for engaging with lawmakers.
The event will be led by Whitney Oxendahl, a voter engagement volunteer, and Carol Sawicki, treasurer of the League of Women Voters of North Dakota.
After the presentation, a panel of advocacy groups will talk about their missions, legislative priorities and how to get involved.
“This event is an opportunity for North Dakotans to not only learn about the legislative process but also to connect with organizations leading the charge on critical issues,” said Sydney Stock, digital communication organizer for the Prairie Action North Dakota Institute. “We hope to inspire participants to take action and be part of driving meaningful change.”
Members of the panel discussion will be Faye Seidler, suicide prevention advocate; Erika Red Tomahawk, North Dakota Native Vote; Cody Schuler, ACLU of ND; and Ryan Nagle, North Dakota United.
The event will be held at 10 a.m. CT Saturday and registration is required to attend the event.
Amplify North Dakota offers monthly virtual meetings that highlight connecting communities, elevating conversations and building momentum for progressive change in North Dakota.
The legislative session begins Jan. 7.
