(KNOX) – The Grand Forks Committee of the Whole approved a project that stretches from 11th Avenue South to South 20th Street to North Columbia Road.
“We are also installing two waste water valves, out in front of Lift Station 20, right in front of the hospital,” Utility Engineer Carmen Neuschwander told the committee.
The city had checked out the possibility of purchasing land in the area where the work will be done.
“One of the things that we looked at was buying out some of the properties in Vail Circle, Glenn Circle, but that wasn’t feasible. So we came to this conclusion of this project,” Neuschwander says.
The project has been talked about by the Grand Forks City Council, the Committee of the Whole, and public meetings were held on the work since October 2020.
Committee of the Whole member Ken Vein says he is glad that the work will be finished.
“It’s been a long time to get this project done. I am very excited that we are getting into this last phase, getting construction completed. I think everybody shouldn’t be in worry to leave., and hopeful they don’t get flooded,” said Vein.
Neuschwander says all of the construction of the plan is scheduled to be finished by September of next year
