Grand Forks Police Arrest a Man After a Chase on Interstate 29

(KNOX) – Grand Forks Police said that they responded to the Interstate 29 southbound on-ramp at Demers Ave. for a motorist assist.

It was reported that a vehicle was pulled off to the side of the road, partially blocking the southbound lane.

Responding officers located the vehicle, a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and found a man who appeared to be sleeping in the driver’s seat.

The man was able to be woken up and it was believed he was under the influence.

He then drove away from police southbound on I-29 and a pursuit was initiated.

Officers continued the pursuit of the man on I-29 to the 32nd Ave. S. exit, where the suspect crossed the travel lanes and came to a stop along the I-29 southbound on-ramp.

The driver then complied with commands to exit the vehicle and was taken into custody without further incident.

The driver, Marlin Johnson, 53, of Grand Forks was arrested and charged with fleeing in a motor vehicle, reckless endangerment, DUI, DUI refusal, and DUS.
