Project Design of Reconstruction of Demers Avenue and 42nd Street in Grand Forks is 50% Complete

(KNOX) – The project design phase of the reconstruction of Demers Avenue and 42nd Street in Grand Forks is 50 percent complete.

The City of Grand Forks has hired the firm Bolton and Menk to come up with the plans for the project

“Just making sure the city and the DOT have experts in everything that this project entails,” Weber said

Design completion is planned for June of next year with construction scheduled to start in the spring of 2026.

Weber said that the plans for reconstruction started long ago.

“This process really started in the early 90’s, so, it goes back, this conservation goes a pretty good ways back,” Weber said.

Through the early stages of design, Bolton and Menk has been in regular contact with BNSF Railway and the University of North Dakota to coordinate project phasing.

Construction on the project is expected to be complete in the fall of 2027.
