(KNOX) – The work on the Columbia Road Overpass in Grand Forks is done, for this year.
Grand Forks City Engineer Al Grasser says the contractor has to install bearings under the overpass.
“To put these in they have to actually jack the bridge up off the piers and install these things. The bridge will have a full closure next year. That’s always been anticipated,” says Grasser.
Grasser says that the contractor has to order the bearings, which will take some time.
“Order these pot bearings. They have nine months or better delivery, so you got to get them going, or we’re going to be late next spring already,” Grasser says.
The hope is to have the work done before the fall session of 2025 comes back to UND.
“We’ll talk with UND about that. We push really hard to try and have everything done before UND goes back,” Grasser says.
